Tasmanian Art Retreat
March 1st 10am – 4th 4pm
This 4 day art retreat is aimed at complete beginners or those who have some drawing and painting experience. This class will teach you the practical skills and techniques used in watercolour painting, whether you want to use this medium for illustrative work, typography or fine art painting.
Students will learn about the specific properties of watercolour paint, and develop practical skills and techniques in paint application, brush-work, colour mixing, rendering light and shade, tonal value, and design in watercolour painting.
By the end of the class, students will have completed many of their own watercolour paintings, and be able to take their new skills to continue developing in their own style, in this particular medium.
About the Art retreat:
Experience the inspiring scenery of the Sassafras area located in the North West of Tasmania, (flights from Melbourne fly into Devonport 12mins or Launceston 45min) whilst participating in a guided, relaxing art workshop. Facilities will be the homesteads, gardens & local public sites. You will be taken through each small step to inspire and encourage your project, meanwhile being served amazing home grown & local food. There is plenty of time to actively explore your own ideas and approaches with plenty of free studio time and even some lovely walks, yoga/ massage classes for your relaxation.
Garden walks, structured lessons, plein air painting and local town site-seeing, are just some of the things you can expect. All accommodation meals and materials are included on this retreat.
About the tutor:
Stacey Jane Rocca is a self taught artist who prides herself in teaching all types of art to others. Stacey is a naturalist and finds her subjects in nature through her camera lens. Stacey has been running her art practice professionally for over 10 years and has since moved to Tasmania (from WA) in 2015 to further pursue her passions. Stacey manages the Robin Hoods Well Farm Stay cottages hosting guests/travellers from all over the world. Her ability to facilitate retreats on her property and encourage guests to relax and enjoy comes from the heart.
About The property:
Based in the North West of Tasmania, Robin hood’s Well Farm Stay is an historic 60 acre property. Circa 1860. Explore the restored buildings and the ruins where the flora & fauna now occupy. Lots of creeks & water with beautiful bush walking. Vegetables, cottage gardens & old trees surround all the buildings, so you will be able to escape to your own spot.
Your accommodation is the luxury restored farm Cottages & Barns. Long John’s Cottage sleeps 5 twin share and The Garden Studio sleeps 2 king bed. The 3x Barn Studios sleeps 2 king bed only, with one of the studios having two comfy single sofa beds. The Art space also offers overflow beds on the mezzanine, which shares the bathroom kitchen of the art space. The Barn Studios may not be available until late March 2018, currently in renovation.
All accommodation are well appointed dwellings. Some sharing the facilities with other students, others private studios to yourself (costs vary) Max 10 persons throughout all accommodation.
